FAQ
Position sizing, explained.
How is position size calculated?
Position size equals the money you are willing to lose divided by your stop-loss in pips times the pip value of one lot. A 10,000 USD account risking 1% with a 20 pip stop on EURUSD risks 100 USD, and at 10 USD per pip per lot that is 0.50 lots.
What does Swap with money do?
It switches the risk input between a percent of your account and a fixed amount of money. The value you entered is converted, so 1% of a 10,000 account becomes 100.
Why do I need the account currency?
Pip values are paid in the quote currency of the pair. The calculator converts them into your account currency with the latest exchange rate, so a EUR or GBP account gets the right size too. You can type your broker's rate if it differs.
What is a standard, mini and micro lot?
A standard lot is 100,000 units of the base currency, a mini lot is 10,000 and a micro lot is 1,000. Gold is usually 100 ounces per lot and indices 1 contract per lot. Change Trade size, units per lot to match your broker.
Can I save my settings?
